THE
VINES, THE WINE CELLAR, THE DISTILLERY

| One antique
enological tradition, which has its root from the age of the Roman Empire, characterize
the territory of Montu Beccaria; Since then till now, the vineyard is cultivated here with
passion and competence. Tradition and quality are the concept which emerges in the
"deposition" said by Baptist Salimbeni in the notary's act of
"Apprehension" in the territory in March 22nd of 1645: "...in these lands,
good wine is made and renowned in all over the world." |

| One glorious
story, therefore, still now continues and becomes renewed in the Cantina Storica di Montu
Beccaria. |
| The pressing and
the processing of grapes occur in a wide cellar dating back to the beginning of the last
century. This imposing building, dominating the Valle Versa from the height of the Montu
Beccaria hills, is locate just outside the old "borgo"(the old village). A
meticulous restoration, ended in 1998 and completed by the instalment of the most advanced
equipment for the production of D.O.C. wines and sparkling wines, has brought the cellar
back to its old magnificence. Our vineyards extend over an area of 80 hectars on the Valle
Versa hills, located in the heart of Oltrepo Pavese, an area which has always been devoted
to the production of great wines. |

The grapes are grown according
to traditional methods with competence and with great passion, and the harvest of first
quality and accurately selected grapes is still carried out manually. |
| In the historical winery
dominating the Versa Valley from the height of the Montu Beccaria hills, a modern fully
equipped and high-tech distillery, the Grapperia, has been realized. The dregs are
distilled in the harvest period immediately after the pressing to keep the grapes
fragrance whole. The distillation by the discontinuous method of copper stills and
bain-marie allows the production of vintage grappas characterized by a clearly defined and
rich sensorial profile. |
